Hermann-Gmeiner Fonds Deutschland (HGFD) and SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia (SOS CV The Gambia) agreed upon the development of a joint application to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for public funding of a
project. The focus will be on addressing waste and environmental pollution that causes child rights violations, poor health, poor infrastructures for flood mitigation, high crime rates (triggered by drug misuse, mental illnesses) and low skills among youth leading to low
employability within the communities of Bakoteh, Manjai and Dippa kunda.

With project intervention, it is envisaged that there will be enhanced infrastructure in the dumpsite for sustainable waste management, investment in skill development, and, diversification of economic activities for families, that collectively contribute towards solving the problem of
these communities and ultimately the waste menace in the Municipality.

Objectives
As part of activities in the fourth component namely “Awareness-raising and Advocacy “, the BMZ project at SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia is in the process of distributing three color coded waste bins for plastic, metal and paper waste sorting at the household level.

The bins will be distributed to the family beneficiaries in the aforementioned three communities.

This is aimed at encouraging and advocating for the implementation of proper waste management at household levels.

Thus, it is in this light that SOS Children’s Villages The Gambia hereby invites you to submit a Bid for the procurement of 700 pieces of 240litres wheelie waste/trash bins.
