Every day in Gambia, as in the whole world, there are children living without the presence of their parents.
Poverty, mistreatment, family dramas and sexual abuse cause families to disintegrate \u2013 the main victims are children.
Without parental care, they struggle to survive because their parents are not there when they need it most.
These children need love and care and, of course, food, clothing, medical care and education. These kids need your help!

Dr Messiah Moore<\/h4>\n

I spent two years in SOS The Gambia from 1997 to 1999 and completed my secondary education. There I was also chosen among my peers to attend an international college, Red Cross Nordic United World College in Norway from 1999 \u2013 2001. I received an international baccalaureate diploma through this program along with 200 other students from about 80 countries around the world.
n 2001, I was offered a scholarship and financial assistance to attend Luther College in Iowa where I received my Bachelor\u2019s Degree in chemistry in 2005. I then moved to the east coast. I worked for three and a half years as a chemist in a pharmaceutical company in Philadelphia. In 2009, I went back to school at the University of Minnesota where I received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree While in Minnesota, I also met my wife, Lydia. We have a 3-year-old son, Melique who has brought so much joy to our lives.\n <\/span>\n
I am living proof of the investment that donors, sponsors, and child advocates have made in SOS Children\u2019s Villages. I believe that every child deserves the same opportunities that I have had

Almami  Touray<\/h4>\n

\u201cWithout SOS Gambia I don\u2019t know where I would be.\u201dAlmami Barrow \u2013 In Charge of SOS Gambia Communications & Child AdvocacyAlmami\u2019s father died before he was born and his mother just 7 days after his birth. At only two weeks old Almami\u2019s uncle could not take care of him and gave him up to the Social Welfare who turned to SOS Children\u2019s Village in Gambia.Thanks to SOS Gambia Children\u2019s Village, he was given a very loving mother, Derdo Sanyang, but also several siblings.Derdo showered her love on Almami, nurtured and protected him until he finished High School. Unfortunately, she died on the last day of Almami\u2019s High School Final Exams. Alami has always wished that she could see him now.Today Almami is a dynamic experienced Communicator, Activist and Child Advocate! As a child of SOS, he has an intricate and an innate understanding of what SOS is all about. His motivation and drive to help children and young people is unquestioned. Answer. Sponsorship consists of making monetary donations on a regular basis to a specific village, family home or child. As a fundraising strategy, sponsoring is creating new opportunities for the future of a child or a community. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Answer.  If you are a suitable and responsible person, concerned with the well-being of the child and your community, you can be a Godfather or Godmother. Without age or gender limits, you can sponsor SOS projects or children. In the case of minors, a guardian must carry out the Sponsorship, but in their name. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

As a SOS Godmother or Godfather, you have the following RIGHTS<\/p>\n

:\u2022 Receive a letter confirming your membership as a Godfather.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Receive a Diploma of recognition as a Friend of SOS Children's Villages and a person who contributes to the achievement of its mission.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Be informed about SOS Children's Villages' activities and plans at least twice a year.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Receive proof of the total contributions made to SOS Villages, by March 15th of the year following the contribution.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Obtain, within 72 hours, any clarifications you have requested from  SOS customer service via tel.:  or email: <\/p>\n

\u2022 Visit SOS projects and programs, as well as sponsored children. A prior agreement with the National Sponsorship Officer is required, and can be done via the Attendance Services.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Be treated as a valued partner, with respect and consideration.<\/p>\n

Likewise, DUTIES described below:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Respect the norms, principles and values of SOS Children's Villages<\/p>\n

.\u2022 Protecting information about the intimate life of sponsored children and other children from SOS projects and programs to which they have had access, keeping them confidential.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Honor the commitments made to SOS Children's Villages, in particular with regard to regular contributions.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Participate, whenever possible, in SOS events to which you have been invited.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Communicate to the National Sponsorship service, through the SOS Friend Support services - Tel.: ; email: <\/p>\n

 - any intention to suspend or cancel sponsorship. This communication must be made at least one month in advance, indicating (optional) the reasons for the cancellation.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

By sponsoring, you do not create legal ties with the child or the Sponsored Project. You will only have the responsibility to contribute periodically according to the data you entered in the membership form as an SOS godparent  and the satisfaction of including an extra friend in your life.<\/p>\n

 If you wish, you can visit the child or the sponsored project. <\/p>\n

However, you can register with us to facilitate the exchange of experiences, ask questions, receive invitations to activities carried out by SOS Gambia.  <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
