SOS Children’s Villages receives donation from Gambia Milling Corporation

On Friday, 6th of January 2024, Gambia Milling Corporation (GMC) made a cash donation to SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia in Bakoteh as part of their corporate social responsibility in The Gambia. Gambia Milling Corporation was established in 2013 and has been producing flour.

GMC gives back to the local community by providing training and gainful employment and takes corporate social responsibility seriously. This shows their commitment to ensuring that No Child Grows Up Alone in The Gambia. The delegation was led by the General Manager, GMC, Mr. Carlo Randriambololona, and his team.

 In his statement, the General Manager highlighted the work and positive impact SOS Children’s Villages has had in the lives of vulnerable children and families in The Gambia. “He further disclosed that a lot of companies we had to choose from we have seen their proposal, but SOS Children’s Villages was an easy choice, contributing to SOS Children’s Village’s work is very important for me and my colleagues in the United States”.

They were welcomed by the SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia National Management, National Sponsorship Coordinator, the Children’s Village Manager, and the location team.

In his statement, the National Director thanked the team and looked forward to having a relationship with the company as SOS Children’s in The Gambia began its implementation of their 5 years strategy with a focus on Youth Empowerment and Employability. The Fund Development and Communication Manager gave a brief rundown of SOS Children’s Villages interventions in the Gambia, such as women empowerment, youth empowerment, employability, green economy, health, and education. SOS Children’s Villages will continue to ensure that children have the opportunity and bond to become their strongest selves.

In 2022, SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia reached 22,498 vulnerable children and families of which 2498 were directly supported and the rest indirectly through the Family Strengthening Program (Ensuring Families Stay Together and Preventing Family Separation).  National wide more that 200,000 people were reached.
