Do you know that SOS Children’s Villages International is a federation comprises of 118 National SOS Children’s Villages associations with 133 countries and territories? SOS Children’s Villages The Gambia has been a member of the federation since 1982. As part of the federation governing body, all continents have a regional office. In West Central and North Africa, we have 21 countries under the regional office headquartered in Dakar Senegal. The regional office in Dakar is divided into clusters and one of the clusters is called the Yaoundé cluster where SOS Children’s Villages The Gambia is part of as a member association. The clusters are headed by Children Villages International Representatives (CVI).
On February the 22nd we welcomed the CVI Representative for the Yaoundé Cluster Mr. Francisco Javier Munoz de Unamuno who spent 5days in The Gambia to visit SOS Children’s Villages The Gambia Programmes. He met with the Minister for Children, Gender and social welfare and the Unicef country representative to the Gambia and partners of SOS Children’s Villages The Gambia. He was also present at the launching of the Sustainable Waste Management for the Reduction of Child Rights Violations at Bakoteh Dumpsite.
