Through the KMC Regional Disaster Committee , on Friday the 19th SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia participated in the distribution exercise of food items to vulnerable families affected by the 30th and 31st July flash flooding in The Gambia. Beneficiaries from our Family Strengthening Programs also benefited from the food aid.
The food aid comprises of Bag of rice, sugar and a gallon of oil.
Meanwhile, 1,378 households received this support whilst 1,178 are yet to receive it and hoping for more donations to support affected victims.
All the first batch of 200 beneficiaries are women-headed households, by women caregivers and their children as victims of the flood
Our Family Strengthening team with the leadership of Mr. Allabatu Jatta, FS Bakoteh, and the BMZ project Coordinator as members of the committee were with the KMC Regional Disaster Committee to coordinate resource mobilization and implementation of the emergency response plan.
The relief items were provided by WFP to Government and 200 families have benefited from the support.
